Think fresh starts, new beginnings, or retelling of an origin story. Clever details, subtle unexpected directions, or developing your skills in an interesting way: a fresh way to start (or finish), multiple starts, or other ideas of beginning and organic growth are emphasized. New techniques are always fun, especially if they're accessible at any level. Loom knitting, sock cranking, minimal sewing, or any other skills may be accepted on a limited basis. Consider combining crafts, too! What better way to start a new yarn skill than to work it into something you're familiar with?
We're looking for vests, socks, skirts, dresses, tees, sweaters, tanks, shawls, capes… you name it. This is a transitional season, so lean into its oddities and layering potential! Specifically, we're hoping for 2-3 "wow" items and an assortment of equally valuable smaller designs. Designers are encouraged to work together on complementary items (they do not have to match if they work together or in contrast to each other; even two different crafts are encouraged!).
We plan to select 5-9 items, and preference will be given to items which embrace our values of inclusivity, accessibility, and collaboration. Yarn support will be provided for this issue by Olive & Two Ewe Studios based loosely on the palette below: dark to light neutrals with a pop of bright yellow-green (fresh growth). Not every design has to include both of these elements, though considering how it works with the palette as a whole is encouraged!
